Hyakunin Gekijo (One Hundred Person Theater) Festival

The ACM Theatre, normally having a capacity of 636, will be sectioned off to create a new space seating only one hundred people. That will bring the members of the audience even closer to the stage, bringing the two together in an intimate fashion. Dance, song, and modern theater will be presented in this extravagant program.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on January 15.
ATM Tomo no Kai members can make advance reservations by phone starting on January 12.

Flamenco Performance, "La Luz," by Asako Tani

Asako Tani will dance the flamenco in the new style that she is helping to carve out. Her performance, entitled "La Luz" (The Light), demonstrates an expanse and depth that transcend the normal borders of flamenco dancing.

Engeki Jimusho '99 (Drama Office '99) was launched last spring with the cooperation of a broad range of local drama-related people, aiming to revitalize the drama scene in Mito. "Yesterday," the debut production of the group, was staged last August, with the script by Kunio Shimizu and the direction by Koshiro Matsumoto (who directs this time as well).

The second production of Engeki Jimusho '99, "Sorekara," is a keenly enthusiastic work attempting to dramatize one of Japan's masterpieces of modern literature. You will be sure to enjoy it.
