Announcement: Cancellation of Oct. 12 Barbara Bonney Recital

The recital by the soprano, Barbara Bonney, that had been scheduled for October 12 (Tue.) at Art Tower Mito (ATM), has been cancelled on account of the singer's concern over the nuclear criticality accident that occurred earlier this month in the JCO facilities located in Tokaimura.

We at Art Tower Mito held several discussions with Ms. Bonney, attempting to explain to her that Mito City was safe, and pleaded with her somehow to go on with her scheduled performance. However, having understood her strong feelings about this matter, we decided to cancel the recital as she requested.

In addition, although we explored the possibility of holding an alternative concert on that date, having selected various candidates and undergone negotiations, we were unable to do so owing to the time restrictions of just a week before the performance was to be held. Accordingly, no performance will be held at all on October 12.

We would like to express our sincere apologies to those of you who had planned to attend Barbara Bonney's recital, and kindly ask for your understanding. Refunds will be paid to those who already bought tickets (see below).

First let me say how deeply sorry I am that the nuclear incident prevented me from coming to your city, and how much I admire your bravery and strength.

I pray that you are all safe and that this accident will not have any adverse effect on you or your loved ones. I will come another time, I promise.

Ticketholders to the Barbara Bonney Soprano Recital can get refunds by following one of the methods below.

Period of refund application: October 8 (Fri.) to November 30 (Tues.)
Method of refund application:
A. Purchasers of tickets directly from Art Tower Mito
1. Visit the ATM Ticket Counter and receive a cash refund upon presentation of your ticket, or ...
2. Send your ticket to ATM (address above) and have the refund sent to your bank account.
B. Purchasers of tickets from non-ATM venues (Playguide, etc.)
1. Use one of the two methods above, or ...
2. Apply directly to the Playguide where you originally bought the ticket for a refund.
