Background Information to ACM Dance 1999
From Art Tower Mito "NEWS Vol. 37," Spring, 1999
The "ACM" in ACM Theatre stands for "Acting Company Mito," ATM's resident dramatic troupe.
While the name commemorates the division's drama-oriented roots,
the division has since branched out to include the ATM Dance Company,
which got that name during the "V.O." tour of France in 1997.
As part of Acting Company Mito, it actively carries out contemporary dance activities,
using ATM as its base.

The choreographer Hervé Robbe, who has been intimately involved in the planning of dance activities at the ACM Theatre,
has been named director of the French National Choreography Center in the city of Le Havre.
To celebrate his assumption of duties,
a series of performances was put on at the end of February,
one of which was a solo performance by ACM's Yoshifumi Wako.
Wako plans to stay on after that to participate in the production of the updated version of "FACTORY,"
choreographed by Robbe, and he will also appear in its performance from the end of May to June.
Another ACM member, Miki Hiramatsu, will also perform in Le Havre after her appearance in ACM Theatre's "1999.3,"
which is part of the Hyaku-nin Gekijo Festival in March.
She will then engage in the production of the new work, "ORIGAMI," to be put on in the fall.
Hervé Robbe will come back to Japan in June to serve as head of the Shimin Buyo Gakko (Citizens's Dance Academy) at ATM in Mito,
at which ACM dancers give instruction to local residents in contemporary dance.
This will be the second year that the school has been held.
Please contact the ACM Theatre at (029) 227-8123 for further details.
